Origin: Dominican Republic
Region: Jarabacoa
Farm: Ramirez Estate
Varietal: Caturra
Process: Washed
Elevation: 1,400 MASL
Creamy • Butter • Roasted Nuts • Sweet Vanilla • Smooth Finish
Nestled in the mountains of Jarabacoa, the family-owned Ramirez Estate has become a model for sustainable coffee production and community investment. Since transforming previously barren land in the early 1990s, the third-generation Ramirez family has built one of the Dominican Republic's most environmentally responsible coffee estates.
The farm recycles nearly every byproduct of coffee production. Coffee cherry pulp is converted into biogas that helps power the processing facility, water is filtered and returned to local waterways, and organic compost is created to nourish nearby farms. The estate also pays workers well above Fair Trade standards and supports surrounding communities by building schools, donating educational resources, and providing processing facilities to neighboring coffee growers.
This washed Caturra offers a silky, creamy body with delicate notes of butter and roasted nuts. Gentle sweetness carries through the cup before finishing with smooth vanilla and creamy soy milk characteristics, creating the classic comforting profile that makes Caribbean coffees so enjoyable.
Best For: Drip • Pour Over • French Press • Espresso
